Chicken Vesuvio Sandwiches

Chicken Vesuvio Sandwiches recipe picturesDid you guys watch Food Network Star this past season? I am obsessed with Food Network. It is my go-to channel. If I don’t like what is on Food Network (which is rare) I turn on HGTV. If there is nothing on HGTV I try to find an episode of Hoarders! I just cannot get enough of Chopped and House Hunters though. Especially House Hunters International! So addicting. I just can’t stop watching. This is the first season that we have gotten into the Food Network Star show. I think after the 2nd episode Cliff and I picked our favorites. I picked Susie Jimenez and Cliff picked Jeff Mauro. And do you know who the final 2 contestants were? Susie Jimenez and Jeff Mauro! Jeff Mauro won, in case you don’t know. Cliff and I watched his show a few times and it was pretty interesting especially since he is a local guy, from Elmwood Park. He would feature some restaurants that we had been to and he really highlighted Chicago food. Luckily, his show has been renewed.

Polenta Terrine

Polenta Terrine recipe picturesAbout 6 months ago my friend Melissa and I bought a Groupon type of coupon for a cooking class. Life got busy and we hadn’t gotten around to signing up for a class. Italian Wedding Soup

Italian Wedding Soup recipe picturesAs you’re probably well aware…Kara and I are pretty obsessed with Giada. I DVR her shows, I have her cookbooks, I follow her on Twitter, I like her on Facebook and when she comes to the Taste of Chicago each summer you can bet I’m there trying to squeeze through people to get a glimpse of my idol. Sometimes I imagine how amazing it would be to work with her…like quit my job, move to California and somehow get a job on the set of Giada At Home. That would be awesome!! Then we’d become pals and do yoga together. Jeesh! I’m in la la land.

Spirits Cake

Spirits Cake recipe picturesToday is black Wednesday. Isn’t this a really huge drinking day? Are you heading out for the bars tonight? I know that all the Chicago bars will be crazy. Unfortunately I’m going to miss out on all the bar fun this Black Wednesday. But I still wanted to celebrate the day before Thanksgiving with a very special cake…a cake soaked in liquor! While I enjoy a plain ‘ole cocktail as much as the next person (I’m partial to vodka), I also really love boozy cakes!

Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Bark

Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Bark recipe picturesLast Christmas I made something similar to this bark except I used Saltine crackers instead of pretzels. I thought it was the most delicious snack ever–it tasted like toffee. When Kara suggested we try this recipe I was excited because I already knew I’d love it.
