Let me tell you about the evolution of these pretzel and peanut butter M&M cookies. It all started just before Valentine’s Day when I was wandering around target. Some people think facebook and pinterest are time sucks, but I think Target is the worst of all. Anyway, I found myself in the seasonal/holiday aisle. I found Valentine’s Day peanut butter M&M’s and I knew I had to make cookies with them. But you know what happened, right? I ate the whole bag before I made cookies. Fast forward a few weeks and I found Easter pretzel M&M’s. Again, I knew I needed to make cookies. And again, you know what happened. The bag got eaten before the cookies could be made. Story of my life. Thankfully, the third time is the charm. I couldn’t decide if I should make peanut butter M&M cookies or pretzel M&M cookies. I decided to merge the two together and do peanut butter M&M’s with pretzels. Now that I think about it peanut butter cookies with pretzel M&M’s would be good too. I guess I’ll be making another trip to target tomorrow…
Easter Bunny Munch
I love Easter candy. Really I love all candy, but I think the best stuff comes out around Easter time. Peeps, jelly beans and Cadbury Creme Eggs…you name it, I like it! I know many people do not like black jelly beans, but those are my favorite. In fact, I only eat black and pink jelly beans. I also love snacking, so making this Easter Bunny Munch just seemed natural to me.
Broccoli and Mushroom Risotto
I have to admit, I am pretty excited about our post today. In the 1 year + that we have been blogging many ideas have popped into my head. Some good, some bad. Some work, most don’t. There have been many, many fails. But occasionally I do get an idea that actually works. Thank God, I think Cliff would kill me if we had to admit to another fail. I must say I am pretty proud of myself for this one. There are many things we have made in the past year that we just love. Then we forget about them and never make them again. This is not one of those recipes. This is something that I will make over and over again. For me risotto is the ultimate comfort food. Well, risotto and macaroni and cheese. And this recipe is kind of a combination of the two.
Asparagus and Goat Cheese Tart
I know we’ve spoken about one of the best restaurants in Chicago numerous times…but here we go again. Milk & Honey is my favorite breakfast place by far…and they make an excellent lunch too! Whenever we go to Milk & Honey, Kara always orders a tart made with ricotta cheese from the case of baked goodies. I’ve never tried this tart before because my attention is always focused on the enormous stacks of pancakes. Or the french toast.
Citrus Quinoa with Scallops
Have you guys seen the Hunger Games yet? I just saw it. I thought they did a really good job of sticking to the book. It drives me crazy how movies are never as good as books. This one I thought was pretty equal. I went with 4 friends from my book club. 1 left after about a ½ hour cause she felt motion sick. 1 wore a bib, and covered her eyes the whole movie. I’d say it is time for some new friends. Just kidding guys! So, team Peeta or team Gale? I was team Peeta for the books but team Gale for the movie. I didn’t like the guy cast as Peeta in the movie.
