I feel like certain ingredients get really popular on food blogs. For awhile everything was Nutella. Which is great, because I love Nutella. Then everything was salted caramel. Again, love it. Then it was Biscoff. No complaints here. Is it still Biscoff? Is there some new “hot” ingredient that I don’t even know about yet? Even though certain ingredients get super popular I find myself never tiring of Nutella. 10 years from now will there still be a Biscoff craze? I don’t know, but what I do know is that I will always have a big jar of Nutella in my pantry. Me and Nutella are like 2 peas in a pod. Best friends forever. We are in looooooveeeee. Big time.

Strawberries and Cream Biscuits

Strawberries and Cream Biscuits recipe picturesCan I tell you a secret? I’ve never had biscuits and gravy. Never! Can I tell you another secret? I don’t think I ever will. Ever! Biscuits were not something I grew up eating (and certainly not biscuits and gravy) and they have never been a food I’ve craved. Unless of course they come in a tube, are quartered, doused in butter, sugar and cinnamon and baked into luscious monkey bread. THEN and only then do I like biscuits. Or so I thought.

A learned a few things this weekend. Mostly having to do with pomegranates. First, I learned how to open and remove the seeds from a pomegranate. Second, I learned that you only eat the seeds of a pomegranate. Who knew? Thirdly, and most importantly, i learned that I really like pomegranate seeds. I received my Food Network magazine recently and there was an article on how to open a pomegranate. First, you hit it pretty hard with a wooden spoon. Then cut it in half then hit it again and many of the seeds will fall out. I’d never attempted to open a pomegranate but this method worked pretty well.
