Pasta e Fagioli

Surprisingly, last weekend was my first time trying Pasta e Fagioli. Not because I didn’t think I’d like it, it just wasn’t something my mom ever made growing up. And now that I’ve scarfed down 3 bowls, I’m about to say the same thing I say every time we try a new soup…this is my new favorite!!

Lasagna Soup

I’m happy to say that our soup archive is growing, and I tell you…it’s a good representation. This makes me happy for two reasons. For one, each and every soup we make seems to be getting even better than the one before (bragging rights). And two, big pots of homemade soup have the warm, comforting qualities I need right now, living in blustery Chicago. When Kara suggested we make this soup I was game since it was similar to one I had been wanting to try anyway. Cliff was skeptic and didn’t think he would like it. I think it was the name that deterred him. Lasagna Soup does not have a great ring to it. But we tried it out anyway.

Lobster Bisque

This past weekend Cliff and I went o Virginia/Washington D.C. to visit our friends Amanda and Kyle and also to celebrate my birthday. I’m not going to tell you which birthday, but it was a big one so use your imagination. We did lots of blog “research” while we were there, aka, we ate a lot! We had an amazing time, but I think I gained about 10lbs! There were quite a few meals we ate while there that I look forward to making at home.

Spicy Chicken Tortilla Soup

Did everyone have a wonderful Christmas this year? Are you ready for New Years and 2012? We all had an excellent Christmas, and got lots of nice gifts. One of my favorites was a new 9 cup Cuisinart food processor, exactly like the one I got my Mom last year! I see lots of pesto in our future! I ate so much food this past weekend I may never have to eat again! There was clams, coconut shrimp, prime rib, lasagna, and homemade creme puffs (recipe coming soon). Everything was delicious. I definitely had to hit the gym today!

Minestrone Soup

I’m excited to share this recipe with you guys. I’ll admit that I wasn’t a fan of minestrone soup…I think because I didn’t know exactly what was in the Campbells or Progressos of my past. But I tweaked this one to just the way I liked it and when I tried it I fell in love. I thought it was the most delicious soup I’ve ever had. I’m not even exaggerating. Now as I sit here and write about my new favorite soup I’m craving a steaming hot bowl and an enormous piece of bread!
